Copy URL
So you’ve uploaded your file to your server, and now want to share it with your friends or coworkers? ForkLift allows you to copy a direct URL link pointing to your file and to paste it into an email or a chat window. Your friends will only need to click the link to start the download.
Full keyboard control
ForkLift lets you control all operations straight from the keyboard including keyboard selection, again a unique feature on Mac. We provide two complements of keybinding sets – one for the Finder user, the other those who have the orthodox commander-style shortcuts hotwired in their carpal muscles.
Terminal at your fingers
Faster than you can say HAL ForkLift will open a Terminal window at your current path for those times when you need access to the depths of your system.
Spotlight and filters
At all times Spotlight search and filters are at hand in the toolbar to quickly find the file you are looking for. Filters will naturally work for searching files on connected volumes and within archives too.
QuickLook everywhere
Use QuickLook anywhere – seriously!! We all love QuickLook and how this single press of the spacebar speeds up our workflow. ForkLift now lets you QuickLook remote volumes (FTP/SFTP, Amazon S3, WebDAV), even the files stored inside an archive!
Application Deleter
ForkLift comes with a full-featured application deleter to remove even the last morsels of the applications you want to uninstall. Keeps your system clean and tidy.
FXP Copy
For the first time in history, ForkLift is bringing FXP transfers to the Mac. FXP lets you transfer data directly between two servers, without needing to pass the data through your desktop machine.
Note: FXP copy is only available on FTP servers that support the feature.
Stunning speed
ForkLift owes it’s superior speed to the ability of carrying individual transfer jobs over multiple concurrent connections. On sturdier servers your transfers will run up to 10 times faster!
Tabs
Keep your work organized and your desktop clean with Tabs. Now with improved Tabs management including dragging Tabs between the two panes, and saving open Tabs to restore them at next launch.
Compress files
Use ForkLift to create compressed archives of your files in 7zip, tar.gz, tar.bz2, zip, and password protected zip formats.
Split and combine large files
An old, reliable item from the toolbox of advanced file management, the capability to spit up large files into smaller pieces and later recombine them. ForkLift supports both the .sfv and .crc standards.
Remote editing
Edit files stored on your FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3 or WebDAV server straight from ForkLift, and it will take care of uploading your changes once you save the file. Preferences lets you assign your favorite applications to edit files with specific extensions.
Batch rename
Pros and home users alike will face the task of renaming a bunch of files in one session -downloading the images from your camera, organizing your files. ForkLift’s toolbox is equipped with an excellent batch rename feature that works as just as fast and simply on your remote folders as on your local hard drive.
Browse archives
Nothing could be simpler – ForkLift lets you browse Zip, rar, gz and tar archives as if they were ordinary folders, so you can even use QuickLook! and search filters. The location of the archive (local, network or server storage) is of course of no relevance.
Favorites and Favorite Groups
Sidebar Favorites grant quick access to frequently used folders, files and applications located on your local machine, or local network, or any remote server. ForkLift adds the ability to create separate Groups to keep your sites organized, and other advanced Favorites management options.
Connect to anything
Really. FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, Amazon S3, iDisk, shared network SMB, AFP and NIS volumes, Bluetooth devices. Anything I left out? Oh yes, the amazing, amazing speed!
Folder synchronization
Keep your data synchronized between two machines at a simple push of a button. ForkLift’s synchronization module easily parses the depths of the source and target folders (on either local, network or remote server volumes) identifying file matches, modified files, newly added files and the files deleted. The fastest implementation of an otherwise maddeningly tiresome task.
Dual Pane vs Single pane
Why argue which is best, when you can have both? From ForkLift 1.6 introduces a new and versatile interface that can transform from a discreet file browser window to a fully geared dual pane work monster that can handle a dozen simultaneous tasks over two dozen sites without even breaking a sweat.
Merge folders NOT replace
ForkLift is the first file manager to introduce in standard folder merge function on OS X. Instead of directly overwriting a folder when another one with the same name is copied over it, ForkLift let’s you merge the contents of the two folders, updating and adding files as necessary.
Sync browsing
Navigate in one pane and have the other pane follow you. How cool is this? If you’re working with files between two similar folder structures Sync Browsing eliminates over 50% of mouseclicks/keystrokes.
Droplets
The simplest way to upload files to a regularly used folder. Droplets work in the same way as Aliases do (basically, they are an icon that you can place in your folders), only they can be used to point to any remote server location, (S)FTP to WebDAV to Amazon S3.
