The guy from ᐃᖃᓗᐃᑦ

Boats waiting for the ice to melt
We’ve received a feature request from a guy, who must be our most extreme user. He said that his link at the Arctic circle isn’t so great, so we should change a few things. However, this proves that you can use ForkLift below -50 degrees. Jo, rest assured, we will implement your suggestions, so the guys needn’t hassle with them at ISS. Ohh, and thanks for the picture.

The day after the release we received a call from Apple, letting us know that they’re featuring ForkLift on the main page of Apple Downloads. They also invited us to WWDC, which we gladly accepted.

Sales are also looking good and we would like to thank everyone again for their support.

Mudi wants to tell you these about upcoming features (excuse him, he’s been working hard):

  • eeny
  • meeny
  • miny
  • moe
  • .. and batch-rename

Wow! You guys are implemeting both eeny AND meeny based technologies? I have to say that moe support will cause more problems than it will solve (especially its interaction with miny), and I’d recommend removing it altogether. No other features are necessary IMO…

Apple seems to like your product too BinaryNights! Great job! *I must say I envy the people who got free licenses from MacApper, I wanted one =)*

    Hey,

I just registered ForkLift and really LOVE it.
One thing I would like to have in ForkLift is Webdav support.
    Thanks for your beautiful work.

  6. Doug says:

Love the app; will be purchasing copies for my 2 work computers as well as home. A wish list:

    1. CD Burning. Would love to be able to burn directly from the app so I don’t have to go into the Finder at all.

    2. Finder replacement: I can’t break the habit of clicking the Finder in the dock, even with Forklift right next to it. Is there a way to designate Forklift as the default File manager?

    3. Would like to be able to select multiple files, then double-click on one of them to open all of them.

    4. Definitely agree with the suggestion above to make the active window more noticable.

    5. Would like to be able to right-click on the tab bar to create a tab. Would love to be able to save tab sets as well.

I love the stability and clean design of the app, so I understand if these things don’t make it in for awhile. Thanks for the hard work–the app has really made my workflow more efficient.

“4. Definitely agree with the suggestion above to make the active window more noticable.”

Agree. A good start would be to highlight the column header used for sorting in the active pane. This should be done anyway.

    Hi!

  9. Nor says:

ForkLift is one of the greatest apps on Mac but here is my wish list to make it even better:

    -vertical split layout
-single pane view (hide the other pane)
    -image viewer
    -apple script support
    -favorite groups
-synchronizable favorites (handy when working on multiple computers)
    -.sit support
    -column view
    -some kind of diff integration
    -terminal integration

    Thanks,
    Nor

  10. Just wanted to let you guys know that I dig ForkLift. You’ve got a hearty endorsement from this cartoonist. :)

  11. Darryn Smith says:

Kudos on the most useful app for which I’ve paid less than $99. I use ForkLift everyday.

I have only 3 wishes the first begs a short explanation:
    1) I work in animation and therefore shuttle around large quantities of images, usually in image sequences. When I open a folder or directory, particularly on a remote volume, I have to wait quite a while for all the little image thumbnails to display. I’d rather just turn them off for this kind of work. So, I guess I’m asking for the option to disable thumbnails of any kind in the main panels.

    2) I too would like to see AppleScript integration. Actually, if it’s there already I wouldn’t know it, I haven’t gotten around to checking, but I took the word of an above poster.

    3) Nevermind #3, I just realized I can get it to hop directory levels Finder style via the ‘finder’ binding set in preferences. Nice job with that one!

Thanks again for an awesome app, BN!!

Four stars, five mice, 10/10 – whatever system you use, top rating from me.

  12. Mudi says:

    Darryn,

    You can do that already.

disable preview for remote connection: Preferences > General > uncheck “Enable preview on non-local volumes”

disable preview globally: Show View options (Command-J) > uncheck “Show preview”
