BinaryNights releases 100,000th line of code

April 24th, 2008

Hello All,

It is with an emotional press of a button that we are now sending on its way ForkLift’s 100,000th line of code with this 1.5.2 release.

Actually, it didn’t come out to an even 100k, but we must have passed it in these last two weeks. These, we spent cleaning up and updating parts of the code, and also doing major architectural reconfiguration. We are now confident that the damage we’ve done during these delicate operations have mostly been brought under control ;-P

Many of these updates on the code body were required for our ongoing localization project. We will now be able to start actual translation work, with the help of some very friendly and enthusiastic users who have offered their contribution for the good of the community. More on this in the following days.

Still, we did have the time to cram some really useful NEW FEATURES in this release, and a couple of FIXES.

Grand inauguration of the ForkLift User Forums

April 9th, 2008

Hello People!

This is a happy moment, the celebration of the unity between users and developers:
the ForkLift user forum is now open!

Come and join in the discussions about ForkLift’s new features, to request support, and to share your experiences with ForkLift.

See you there

BinaryNights

One for our users

April 1st, 2008

Hi Everybody,

We’ve got some great news for you, loyal and venerable users.

In the past months, we’ve seen the number of ForkLift users jump an order of magnitude, especially since the release of the Leopard version. Now this makes us happy as clams, but precisely: clams tend to be a sort of introvert creatures, hard to get to. And indeed, we now find ourselves incapable of handling the volume of mail we receive from you guys, which is worrying because your feedback does play a very important role in our development process.

Therefore, we are following the advice that many of you have voiced, and we announce the coming a user forum for ForkLift.

We would like to say here that credit for this should be given to the guys and girls who regularly comment on our blog, sharing their experiences with and offering advice to us all.

The forum will be a much more efficient place to discuss suggestions and recommendations regarding new features and interface usability, and to share information on using ForkLift.
We just need to get some things together, such as setting up a domain, and putting a skin on the forum, and we will launch the forums as soon as possible.

Also, a quick update on localizations – we will be contacting this week all those who kindly offered their help with the translations, and we hope we will be able to release the first localized versions 2-3 weeks after that. Based on the offers we have received so far, it looks like Chinese, French, German, Hungarian and Polish version will be among the first ones.

And last, but not least, Battlestar Galactica season 4 is coming in just a couple of days. Rejoyce everyone!

Good Nights,

BinaryNights crew

ps. in case you were looking for it, the funny part is that this is not an April Fool’s joke
