The Last Beta Standing

February 29th, 2008

Hello People.

OK, so here’s one last beta release (the fourth). To be honest, the main reason for making this release is that I (Csaba) am still not finished with the Help pages (shame on me) and this is the best way to buy me a couple of extra days.
Because otherwise, your beta installations would stop working with today’s expiration of the beta period.
So we’re releasing this fourth beta version -which will work until March 15, just to be sure- in the hope of getting your the final release very soon after the weekend.

That said, there were a couple of minor fixes from 1.5b3 (thanks for your help guys), and one major: ForkLift should now work 100% with AFP and SMB shared resources of the local network.

So, if you have Samba shares on your network, your testing and input is still welcome.

OK, I’ll go back to work now, and will bring you an update early next week.

Have a good weekend you all

Third time’s the charm: Beta 3 is here!

February 23rd, 2008

Hello Beta People,

This is what we hope the to be the last beta release before we can say ForkLift 1.5 is ready for release on March 1st.
There has been a noticeable drop in the number of bugreports received after the second beta was released – we can only interpret this as a proof of our superior coding skills in getting the core app to run great.
Still there were a few things that had to be fixed or improved, and we’ve even added a few features, which are now released in this third beta.
(see changes at the end of this post)

We want to thank all beta testers for their feedback, and would like to ask all of you to be very rigorous and critical in this final round of testing. You probably understand how this is the most important beta, so don’t be shy to send in your reports, even if you’ve already submitted a similar bug or request before.

Test Drivers Welcome!

Significant work has been carried out here since the first beta release, and thanks to an abundance of input, we have managed to track down and fix many of the bugs.

This is where we want to say: Thank You!
for your help in these past two weeks, for the friendly support, the thorough bug reports, and quick response when we needed you to track down a particluar pest.

If you stay with us with the same energy until February 29, when the beta period will end and the final version is released, I think we’ll get a chance to feel very satisfied with the job we’ve done:)
